Our purpose
I left the mountains.
They never left me.
A personal story from the founder of MorchellaHub and Dianbei Select.
A LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER
I was born in a mountain village in Yunnan.
My family was poor. Long before I knew how to build a website, I knew that making a living in the mountains was not easy.
Yunnan is often introduced through its beautiful scenery. For me, it is first of all home. Behind those mountains are people working hard, trying to make a better life with what they know and what the land can offer.
I grew up as one of them. When I think about products from my hometown, I do not see only something to sell. I think about the people whose work is inside them, and how easily that work can go unseen beyond the place where it begins.
LEAVING HOME
An unexpected road
took me to Guangdong.
I went to Guangdong to work. It was not a carefully mapped route toward starting a business. I was trying to find my way, make a living and move forward.
Through continued effort, and then an unexpected encounter with website technology, I began to see a possibility I had never imagined when I was growing up: perhaps I could build something that would let people far away discover what my hometown had to offer.
Learning that a website could open a window was one thing. Learning how to build that window, and make it useful to someone on the other side, was another.
LEARNING TO REACH FURTHER
The distance was more
than geography.
I wanted to introduce good products from home to people outside China. But differences in internet access between China and overseas made that harder than I had expected. Reaching people elsewhere was not as simple as putting a product online.
There was also a technical distance I had to cross myself. I kept learning: how websites work, how to organize product information, and how to make a clearer connection between what growers have and what buyers need to know.
What kept me going was the thought that these skills might become useful beyond my own livelihood. If I could learn to open this window, perhaps more of my hometown could be seen through it.
WHY MORCHELLAHUB EXISTS
A way forward for me.
A way to give something back.
That is how this website came into being. It grew from work, continued learning and a wish to give something back to the place I came from.
I began with Yunnan dried morels. Through Dianbei Select, an independent trading company working with cooperating growers, I hope to connect these products with overseas buyers who want to understand their origin and their qualities.
I cannot say that one website will change life in the mountains. But I believe a useful connection is worth building. A product understood, a serious conversation started, a relationship developed over time: those are meaningful steps to me.
I left home to look for a way forward. My hope is that something I build can also open a way back — to contribute to the place that raised me.

I want this business to sustain itself, but exceptional financial returns are not what I hope to take from it. I would rather build something that brings more people into my life, creates more opportunities for people back home and gives our region a place in someone else’s world.
A buyer may first come to us for a product. My hope is that the conversation can grow into trust, friendship and a lasting connection. Across different countries and ways of life, there is still much we can share.
I also hope that, as the business develops, it can open more doors for growers and people from my home region. That is a direction I want to work toward, through useful relationships and the everyday work of building a dependable trading business.
For me, letting the world taste Yunnan means more than introducing an ingredient. It means sharing something of where we come from: the landscape, the work and the people behind it.
A vision that can grow, one relationship at a time.
My hope is for Dianbei Select to become a thoughtful introduction to products from Yunnan and the wider highland regions: their origins, their characteristics and the people who bring them to market.
Over time, I hope to explore truffles, matsutake, cordyceps, termite mushrooms, notoginseng and gastrodia alongside our current focus on dried morels.
Each new category deserves its own sourcing knowledge, product information and responsible market assessment. We will introduce products as those foundations are in place.
